QuickBooks Help – Errors 15xxx


One of the following errors occur when you download a QuickBooks update:

  • Error 15214
  • Error 15215
  • Error 15217
  • Error 15218
  • Error 15221
  • Error 15222
  • Error 15224
  • Error 15223
  • Error 15225
  • Error 15226

Why this is happening

These errors may be caused by an incorrect configuration of Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE).

To protect your computer and its contents, QuickBooks attempts to verify the digital signature on all files that are downloaded through the program. If QuickBooks is unable to verify the digital signature of a file that you are trying to download, one of these errors will occur.

How to fix it

To resolve this error, please download the latest version of Internet Explorer from the Microsoft Download Center.

Additional steps for specific errors:

  • If error 15218 or 15215 occurs, manually download and install the latest QuickBooks update.
  • If error 15222 occurs, please contact your network administrator to set your proxy server to allow all requests to any “QuickBooks.com” URL. This error can also be resolved by repairing the QuickBooks installation:

Windows 8, 7 or Windows Vista:

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows () + E to open the Computer window.
    Note: In Windows 8, click Computer at the top of the window.
  2. Click Uninstall or change a program.
  3. Select QuickBooks.
  4. Click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Click Next in the Welcome to QuickBooks Maintenance Wizard window.
  6. Select the Repair option and click Next.
  7. When the repair process is complete, download the update.

 

Windows XP:

  1. Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Control Panel. The Control Panel window opens.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs window opens.
  3. Select QuickBooks.
  4. Click the Change/Remove button.
  5. Click Next in the Welcome to QuickBooks Maintenance Wizard window.
  6. Select the Repair option and click Next.
  7. When the repair process is complete, download the update.

 

  • If error 15223 occurs while using Internet Explorer, go to the upper tools drop down menu, choose Internet Options, then choose Security.  Click on Trusted sites, then the Sites button and add *.quickbooks.com and *.intuit.com to your trusted sites.

 

Error 15223 may also be caused by as expired Windows security certificate. Click here to download an updated certificate from Microsoft.

If you currently have the latest version of IE installed, or if you continue to receive the error after attempting the resolutions noted above, it is possible that one or more of your Microsoft Windows program files may be unstable.
