QuickBooks POS Message 100106 Printer not found

This one has thrown me for a loop until I ran across this knowledge base article that provides a rather simple solution.  Basically, you simply open the File/Preferences/Workstation form and click on the “I Want To…” followed by “Reset to Default Settings”.  Apparently the workstation preferences are damaged and that is why this error comes up.  Sounds a little iffy to me, but, give it a try.  One note of caution though, if you do this reset to default preferences, you will have reconfigure your preferences to the way you want them as they are all removed.

When attempting to print or configure printer preferences, you see the following message

POS Message: 100106 Printer not found.


Why this is happening

Workstation preferences are damaged.

How to fix it
  1. Choose File > Preferences > Workstation. (Version 9 and below: Edit > Preferences > Workstation).
  2. Click I Want To… and select Reset to Default Setting.Note: After resetting to defaults, all hardware and printer preferences will need to be reconfigured.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Choose File > Preferences > Workstation. (Version 9 and below: Edit > Preferences > Workstation).
  5. Select the Documents & Printers preference and configure your workstation settings.
